Neighbourhood Response Manager
Neighbourhood Response Managers co-ordinate arrangements to deal with environmental problems in the neighbourhood, for example, removing graffiti or making sure that repairs are carried out, and dealing with vandalism.

Your local Physical Activity Co-ordinator is Rosie Milne. Rosie works to increase levels of physical activity and exercise in your local community. She can provide information on local activities and exercise groups such as walking and cycling, and various other initiatives which you can become involved in. The Elders Council of Newcastle is a charity that provides a voice for older people on issues concerning their quality of life, health and well-being. They want society to realise the potential of older people as a creative and active resource for the community.
They are run by older people for older people. They work through eight working groups: Transport; Housing; Community Safety; Learning and Culture; Older Person Friendly City; Health and Social Care (which runs the drama group Old Spice); Readers (which broadcasts a monthly radio programme); and Outreach.
If you are aged over 50 years old and living or active in Newcastle, you can join the Elders Council. Membership is free and is for life. You could also join one of their working groups. The East End Community Development Alliance is an independent network of community and voluntary sector groups. Its mission is: 'To improve the community’s role in developing local solutions to local problems'. It helps the community and voluntary sector to deliver ‘local solutions to local problems’, and so participate as an equal partner in the regeneration of the area.
It supports and resources members of the network to ensure that they can make an informed and effective contribution to local governance. It provides a point of contact with local residents, community and voluntary sector groups and so facilitates effective community consultation and joint-working.

The Community Empowerment Network aims to bring together the many community networks that already exist in Newcastle to become one ‘Community Network’; and supports community organisations to take part in the Newcastle Partnership.
The Newcastle Partnership is a partnership that involves the public sector (such as the City Council, Primary Care Trust and the police), the private sector (such as local business), and community and voluntary organisations in making decisions about Newcastle.
The Community Empowerment Network aims to:
- facilitate the selection of ‘Community Voices’ to the Newcastle Partnership;
- support the Community Network to discuss problems, develop views, and provide solutions to local issues;
- provide training to the Community Network; and
- communicate information to the Community Network.
