Gardening
As you get older you may find that maintaining your garden becomes more difficult and that some tasks are harder to manage. Whether you are a homeowner, or a Your Homes Newcastle tenant, there are schemes that can provide you with a reliable gardener to help keep you garden in good condition, so that you can continue to enjoy it.
Homeowners or private tenants
Anchor Staying Put has a Gardening Service for people living in Newcastle or Gateshead. The service started in November 2008 and is initially open to homeowners and private tenants aged over 60, or aged over 50 and in receipt of disability benefits.
The service will consist of an experienced gardener who is assisted by a team of volunteers. It operates as a Social Enterprise scheme, which means that all the money raised is put back into running the service and making it better.
