Mobile hairdressing
The Quality of Life Partnership have set up a mobile hairdressing scheme for older people living in Newcastle upon Tyne. The aim of the Hairdressing at Home scheme is to provide older people with details of friendly, reliable and properly vetted hairdressers. It is designed for older women and men who cannot normally go out to access hairdressing services.
Enquiries about the register can be made by older people themselves, their family members or their carers. They will then:
- find out your requirements
- ascertain any specific needs you may have that might affect how the service is delivered to you
- ensure that basic facilities and precautions are in place within your home
- provide the contact details of up to three hairdressers for you to make your own arrangements, or
- arrange an appointment for you with one of our registered hairdressers
- provide information on what you might expect to pay for a range of hairdressing services.
Service guarantee
The service guarantees that the hairdressers registered have undergone the following:
- completed a registration form
- provided two referees, both of which will have been followed up
- had clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau
- attended an interview in which they will have received information about the register and what to expect
- provided evidence of their business status and insurance cover
Please note that this is a referral service only and not a recommendation of any individual hairdresser.
The service will provide ongoing support by:
- responding to any questions or queries
- monitoring and evaluating the service based on customer feedback
- providing access to a complaints policy if any problems arise
