This one-hour event showcases the creative talents of older performers from Wales to Brazil, New York to South Africa, and beyond, using spoken word, music and dance. The Creative Age challenges ageism by celebrating the voices and experiences of our global elders. Following the performance, there will be a 30 minute post-show discussion between audience members and the performers.
Wales: Re-Live’s Company of Elders will perform life stories that capture the enduring resilience of the human spirit through reflections on childhood dreams, the strength of community bonds, and the rediscovery of adventure in later years.
New York: Community members from the Queens Center for Gay Seniors will debut an original dance celebrating inclusivity and resilience, choreographed with DanceStream Project artists Magda Kaczmarska and Hilary Brown-Istrefi.
Brazil: Older adults living with aphasia will perform therapeutic clowning, using humour and nonverbal expression to support emotional wellbeing, presented by Dr. Lenisa Brandão.
South Africa: The Abahlali Base Freedom Park Elders group in Johannesburg will perform songs that will lift us up and carry us forward.
This free event is accessible worldwide with live transcription in over 30 languages.
