Citizens Advice Newcastle (CAN)

From March 2020: Drop in sessions at the City Library are closed.   They have closed their outreach sessions at Prospect Medical Centre and Action for Children in Benwell,

They will continue to provide advice by webchat , phone (see below) and email.

Citizens Advice Newcastle (CAN) is a charity providing free, confidential and independent advice to people who live, work or study in the city. They give advice by phone, webchat, email and face to face at daily drop in sessions. Daily drop-in sessions with no appointment needed.  Advice includes:

  • benefits including new claims for Universal credit
  • employment
  • consumer issues
  • housing and homelessness
  • family disputes
  • immigration, citizenship and human rights
  • education
  • health care
  • Debt and Money Advice: from dealing with simple debts to bankruptcy, all advice is free and independent.   Advice is available by phone and in person.  Contact:

  • Help to Claim Universal Credit service: drop in to City Library. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10am to 3pm and Thursday 10am to 5pm. No appointment needed or email
