Dementia Matters
Dementia Matters is based in Newcastle and provides specialist care, support and advice to people with dementia and their families from their main site, at the Bradbury Centre. They also support people with neurological conditions such as: brain injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. They also provide care for people with physical disabilities and complex health needs. They support people at any age and from any community.
Dementia Matters offers:
- 24 hours a day, seven days a week support in people’s homes
- specialist dementia friendly Bradbury day care centres in Newcastle and Cramlington
- a respite and residential care unit for people with dementia at The Bradbury centre in Brunswick Village
- training and advice on practical care
The Bradbury Day centre offers activities, hot meals, snacks, refreshments and can provide 2 to 1 support for people who need mobility support. It is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
The Bradbury Centre residential care unit provides care for:
- Adults of any age
- People with dementia
- People with learning disabilities or autism
- People with physical disabilities
- People with mental health needs
- People with sensory impairments
The Bradbury Centre residential care unit provides personal care and support including:
- support for care needs such as sight or speech impairments, young onset dementia, Parkinson’s, brain injuries and stroke,
- support with eating, drinking and medication
- supervision and support day and night to keep you safe
The Bradbury Centre residential care unit facilities include:
- social activities such as bingo and outings
- quiet area and gardens
The Bradbury Centre residential care unit is commissioned by Newcastle City Council
