Independence at Home

Independence at Home (IaH) is a charity that provides grants to people of all ages who have a physical disability, learning disability or long term illness who are in financial need. Grants must be applied for by professional referrers such as:

  • Health, social care or advice services
  • Citizens Advice workers
  • Voluntary or charity workers who provide a health, social care, welfare or advice service
  • Professional workers from Tenancy Support, Care and Repair organisations and Housing Associations.

To apply they will need written evidence of your medical condition and a quote on a company letterhead for the item or repair works needed.

Independence at Home’s grants are between £300 and £600 and depend on the item of equipment purchased or building work carried out. They provide grants for:

  • Mobility and Travel Equipment
  • Special Disability Equipment
  • Home Adaptations
  • Communications Equipment
  • House Repairs
  • Kitchen Equipment
  • Beds and Bedding
  • General Furnishings
  • Removal expenses
