Newcastle Gateshead targeted lung health check service

The Newcastle Gateshead targeted lung health check service offer a health check of your lungs, also called lung cancer screening.

You are eligible if you are:

• aged 55 to 74 years old
• a smoker or ex smoker
• registered with a GP in Newcastle or Gateshead

Most people who have a check won’t have lung cancer. But for those who do, finding it early makes all the difference.

Lung health checks are done at a face to face appointment or over the phone. If you have a higher risk for lung cancer you’ll be offered a CT scan of your lungs at a mobile scanning van or a hospital.
