Doctors of the World UK

Doctors of the World (DOTW) UK is part of the Médecins du Monde network, an international humanitarian organisation providing medical care to vulnerable populations across the world. In England, DOTW runs a volunteer-led clinic, staffed by GPs and nurses, that helps people who have been unable to access NHS services to get the healthcare they need. They also run a mobile clinic and a specialist clinic for women and children.  Specifically they :

• help migrants to access healthcare
• help migrants register with a GP and get hospital care if they need support
• training migrants to understand their healthcare rights
• training doctors to understand migrant healthcare rights
• contraception and sexual health training
• HC2 form
• free confidential advice line

Everyone living in England has the right to free NHS healthcare from a GP and from the emergency services (though some people can be charged for using hospital services).

DOTW also run a Safe Surgeries network that links GPs who are committed to caring for everyone in their community, regardless of their nationality or circumstances. There are practices in the North East who are members of the network.
