Explore the history of an iconic Sweet Factory in Fawdon Newcastle upon Tyne.
For 66 years, a factory in the north of Newcastle manufactured some of Britain’s favourite confectionery treats, from fruit gums and pastilles to Smarties and Rolos. This is the story of how it came to Newcastle, of the two renowned companies (Rowntree’s and Nestle) who owned it, and of the people who worked there.
