Family open day

Monday 25 May 2026
10.00am to 1.00pm
4th Newcastle Scout Group
North Jesmond

Our family open day is a chance to step into the world of Scouting at our home in Jesmond Parish Church Halls on Monday 25th May.  Here is what you can expect:

What happens at the event?

We have a full map of activities ready for you to get stuck into.  You can try your hand at fire lighting, explore our cave simulator or navigate the blindfold maze.  We will also have soft archery, a graffiti wall and plenty of arts and crafts.  While the young people are busy with pioneering and towers, there is a tea and coffee station for the grown-ups to enjoy.

Who is it for?

This event is specifically for 5 to 12 year olds and their families.  We are Scouts and everyone is welcome here, regardless of their background or gender.  Please note that all under-16’s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the day.

Why should you attend?

It is the perfect opportunity to see how we help young people gain skills for life through fun, friendship and adventure.  You’ll discover how we encourage children to step up, speak up, and think for themselves.  Whether it is learning to get back up and try again after a challenge or simply making new friend in the community, you’ll see how Scouting helps create better futures.
