Habitat Heroes 2

After the huge success of Habitat Heroes, Northumberland Wildlife Trust has joined up with Wild Roots to bring another version – Habitat Heroes 2!

In this workshop, Urban Wildlife Community Gardener, Nick Figgis will demonstrate how human made open mosaic habitat creation can support an abundance of life, while beautifying our shared spaces and enriching lives.

Alongside this there will also be a pond dipping exploration session with the pond wizard Mike Jeffries and a workshop to learn how to turn nettles into natural cordage for bracelets or necklaces!

Participants will be guided through the process of creating a variety of habitats for invertebrates, birds and mammals by acting like beavers, wild boar and other keystone species missing from our present landscape.  Come along, roll your sleeves up and get stuck in, gaining practical knowledge about how you can make a positive difference in urban green spaces.  There will be snacks and hot drinks provided!

No experience necessary, guidance and supervision will be provided.

Please wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions on the day.  Gloves will be available but please bring your own if possible.  Please book tickets to ensure enough PPE is provided.

Ages 16 – 24.  Under 18’s must have parental permission upon sign up.

Part of the Championing Nature Project, a new programme aimed at creating positive, lasting impact in urban communities through greater connections.
