Swift walk around Gosforth

Thursday 2 July 2026
9.00pm to 10.30pm
Northumberland Wildlife Trust

Come for an evening walk, watching and learning about Gosforth’s swifts that return every year.

Swifts are amazing birds that make the journey from the Savannas and forests of Equatorial and Southern Africa to our city and others.

The walk will be led by Caroline McLelland, who is at the forefront of the Gosforth and Newcastle swift community efforts.

Meeting on the corner of Harewood Road and Linthorpe Road at 21:00, we will walk to local swift streets where our swifts are nesting, hopefully catching them as they emerge for the night and fly above us feeding on insects, and returning to the meeting point for 22:30.

Everyone is welcome, children must be accompanied.
