Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Organ Donation and Transplantation at Newcastle and Cambridge Universities
The Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Organ Donation and Transplantation is based at Newcastle and Cambridge Universities. It’s a group of doctors, researchers, students, scientists, public contributors and support staff who are working to improve things for transplant patients. This includes trying to improve the quality of transplant organs. It also involves helping patients to have a better quality of life after transplant.
The opinion of patients, carers and the public is at the heart of the Unit’s activities. The Unit works with the Patient and Public Research Panel to ensure its research is relevant and has a positive impact on the lives of patients. The Panel also helps with other Unit activities, including assisting with events for the public and teaching researchers.
