Derwent Reservoir

A reservoir managed by Northumbrian Water. There is a wealth of wildlife and history along the multi user trail (3.5 miles from Pow Hill Country Park to Millshield picnic site) and breathtaking views of the reservoir. The walk is easy and suitable for cyclists, walkers, wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Derwent Water offers a lot of access points for

wild swimming. Take a chill swim float with you for safety
kayaking
fishing (disabled access points)

There is a visitor centre with accessible facilities and events and there are many miles of multi user paths. There is a waterside park nearby.

Classed as a dark sky friendly site within County Durham, you can view the shimmering stars, study planets like Jupiter and Saturn and have a good view of meteor showers that take place across the year.
