MCR Pathways

Could you spare an hour a week to help a young person discover their potential?

MCR Pathways is an award-winning, relationship-based mentoring programme, working to level the playing field so all young people can achieve their ambitions.

Mentoring not only improves a young person’s educational attainment, career aspirations, and life chances, it’s also incredibly rewarding for the mentor. Supporting someone to reach their full potential can increase your own confidence, develop communication skills, and give a deep sense of fulfilment and purpose.

In September of 2025, MCR launched their programme in 4 schools in Newcastle

  • Excelsior Academy – Denton Road, Newcastle, NE15 6AF
  • Jesmond Park Academy – Jesmond Park West, Newcastle NE7 7DP
  • Walker Riverside – Waverdale Avenue, Newcastle, NE6 4AW
  • Callerton Academy – Bedeburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE5 4JQ

and they have an urgent need for volunteer mentors!

You don’t need any specific skills or prior experience to become a mentor; all you need is a willingness to make a positive impact. Mentors are 21 years and above, and are able to dedicate an hour each week listening to and encouraging a young person in their school, empowering them to believe in themselves and their abilities.
