Nepacs
Nepacs is a north of England charity that supports individuals, families, young people and children who have been affected by the criminal justice system, prison or care system.
- Telephone support offering information and support to individuals, their families and loved ones at the point of arrest, at court, throughout a prison sentence, and on release
- support at courts service at Teesside, Newcastle and Durham Crown Courts
- Visitor centre or tea bar services at all north east prisons (Durham, Deerbolt, Frankland, Holme House, Low Newton, Northumberland and Kirklevington Grange.
- Visitors voice group meetings for families and loved ones of those in prison
- Heading Home – Re:settle and Re:connect project: The Re:settle offer includes practical advice and guidance to preparing children and families for the release of a family member. The Re:connect offer includes group based sessions for prisoners to discuss concerns and plan ahead for release from prison
- Independent Visitor Scheme provides volunteer befriending support for children and young people living in care.
- Support worker programme for young male care leavers in custody at HMP Deerbolt & young offender institution
- a small grants scheme for ex-prisoners and people subject to probation services, and their families.
They also provide training courses for individuals and organisations working with children and families affected by the criminal justice system, prison or care system.
They welcome volunteers in roles supporting families at court, prison or in the community as well as youth projects.
