Palliative Care Service

Palliative care aims to reduce and relieve the symptoms of an illness which is serious and progressing. This illness could be cancer, advanced neurological disease or poor function of important organs, such as heart, lung or kidneys. Newcastle has access to teams who specialise in providing palliative care. The teams consist of nurses (sometimes called Macmillan nurses), doctors and social workers, all of whom are trained and experienced in palliative care.

There is a Gift of Kindness fund run by the Newcastle Hospitals Charitable Trust because small comforts really help.
