Streetwise Opera

Streetwise Opera runs a weekly singing workshop programme in homeless centres and arts venues around the country. They also stage biennial productions which give homeless performers the chance to star in quality shows where there are high expectations, no compromise and no patronising. These critically acclaimed productions enable their performers to realise that whatever life throws at them, they can achieve great things. Workshops are free and are open to people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.

Streetwise Opera has a vibrant programme in Newcastle and Gateshead, with two weekly workshop programmes and regular performances in the area. They work in partnership with Sage Gateshead, where they have a resident Explore Singing and Acting group. Many of their performers do work placements at the venue
