Threads in the ground

Threads in the ground is a climate education and community action organisation. They run several projects:

  • Warm Grain is a programme of small to large community meals hosted by volunteers, where locals, artists and others can eat shared food and talk about the future of food. Threads in the ground can help with inviting people and provide interesting ideas and research about sustainable food to discuss with guests.
  • Mushroom sculpt is a natural sculpture project using ‘mushroom plastic’ an eco friendly fungus material.  They work with schools and community groups to support them to create a fungal sculpture trail in the North East.
  • Hereditary Footprint is a culture, heritage and education priject. Threads in the ground want to hear from you if you are…from, or living in an ex-mining community, work for a community organisation with an interest in coal heritage, an academic or researcher interested in energy, climate change, british heritage…or just interested!
  • Creative Climate Teachers is a group of teachers across the North of Tyne area, who meet to discuss and create resources, tools and fun actvities to teach climate education. The group meets once every 2 months in North Tyneside. The host school changes for each meeting.
