Tools with a Mission

Tools with a Mission is a Christian charity that collects unwanted usable tools, refurbishes them, sorts them into trade tool kits and sends them to the developing world for livelihood creation. They send around 20 containers filled with over 300 tonnes of tools every year. You can use their website to donate tools, find a collector or you can gift money towards a sewing machine or carpentry set for example.

They are looking for volunteers in Newcastle and the North East. Tasks may include

  • taking calls and emails from members of the public and arranging collection times; driving to collect tools from people and bringing them back to your storage area
  • arranging collections

They provide an induction to the role which may be either over the phone, electronically or in person and a volunteer handbook on starting. You will have a named contact within TWAM for any questions or problems and further training can be provided as required. You will also be given a Polo Shirt to wear and an ID Card if required
