Housing Plus at Newcastle City Council

Housing Plus Service provides a range of affordable, rented accommodation with housing and wellbeing support services. This housing is for older or disabled people, over the age of 55 years in Newcastle. They offer:

Sheltered Housing service: This is where you live in an independent apartment. Housing Plus Officer is based in each sheltered housing to provide a welcoming atmosphere and support to live independently. There are opportunities for social interaction and wellbeing support tailored to individual your needs.

Assisted Living service: you live in an independent 1 or 2 bedroom accessible apartment or bungalow. Specially trained staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing a range of specialist care support during the day and peace of mind that help is at hand overnight in an emergency.

Depending on your personal circumstances you may be able to get assistance with your rent. They can complete a confidential assessment with you to find out if you are eligible. You can get support with:
