It’s Wor Wall: Hadrian’s Wall in Newcastle
Illustrated talk about Newcastle’s only World Heritage Site – the little known route of Hadrian’s Wall through the city.
Followed by an opportunity to watch a short film which traces the route of the Wall, crossing Newcastle from Segedunum to Heddon and meeting barbarian hordes, Roman soldiers and disaffected natives along the way.
This event accompanies the library’s exhibition of drawings by local artist Ashley Bayston depicting scenes around the route of the Wall from a magpie’s eye view.
It is part of St James’ Heritage & Environment Group’s project “Celebrating Our Roman Heritage”, supported by English Heritage with funding from the National Lottery
