Moving on Tyne and Wear (MOTW)
MOTW is a local employability programme which helps people in Tyne and Wear who are unemployed with a health barrier, disability, additional learning need or autism get into employment, training or volunteering. They provide:
- personal support and advice on a one-to-one basis helping you to build on your strengths and achieve your goals
- health and wellbeing support helping you address your personal circumstances, health barriers and any other health related concerns
- access to education and training, where they can help find, and fund any required training or qualifications needed to help you achieve your employment goals
- disability support where they’ll help you to improve your employability and work-based skills, giving you access to work experience, volunteering, and internship opportunities.
- tailored specialist employment support for people with autism or learning difficulties where they focus on developing communication skills, boosting confidence and work with you to create a robust and achievable action plan.
Moving On Tyne & Wear is led by Mental Health Concern (MHC) and work closely with 8 charity partners to help people with complex needs to make sustainable life changes. These include Humankind, Changing Lives, Oasis Community Housing, North East Autism Society and Groundwork North East and Cumbria.
Moving On Tyne & Wear is joint funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund and is part of the Building Better Opportunities programme. This nationwide initiative invests in local projects that tackle the root causes of poverty and promote social inclusion.
