Stephenson Railway Museum

The Stephenson Railway Museum is home to a range of working steam and diesel trains including George Stephenson’s ‘Billy’, a forerunner of the world-famous Rocket and the world’s third oldest surviving steam engine. On planned days, you can take a ride on a passenger train pulled by the ‘Jackie Milburn’ steam engine or heritage diesel locomotives. The trains are maintained and operated by a team of volunteers.

Donations welcome, admission free. Please check their website for train time and special events.
