North East Museums

North East Museums (formerly Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums or TWAM) is a regional museum, art gallery and archives service. They manage 9 museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear. Most of their venues are free to visit. North East Museums run:

  • an adult learning programme, which includes a range of exciting workshops, courses, talks and tours
  • The Late Shows, the annual late night culture crawl across Newcastle and Gateshead. For one weekend only cultural venues, museums, galleries, studio collectives and landmark historical buildings come together to offer one-off events including hands-on workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, performances and parties
  • volunteering opportunities at their museums and The Late Shows
  • special events and festivals
