West End Library and Community Hub

Library services include:

• browsing and borrowing books for adults and children
• free computer, internet and Wi-Fi access
• printing, photocopying and scanning facilities
• reserving books, DVDs, toys, and board games
• advice on using our BorrowBox app for eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and eNewspapers
• council enquiries
• study space (limited)
• using the freephone to contact other council services
• book an appointment for help with your universal credit online claim

Children and Family Activities

• join the Lego Club – Mondays 4pm to 5pm
• attend our Under 5 Storytime session – Mondays 2pm to 2:30pm
• borrow or order a ‘Starting School Book Bag’ – each bag has 4 books to help you talk with your child about starting school.
• Read, play, craft and make friends at Game Changers social club for 7-11 year olds  – Saturdays, 10:45am (term time)

Health and Wellbeing

• check out the ‘Soundtrack of Your Life’ booklet from Playlist for Life found at our help point – this booklet helps people with dementia and their carers find the songs that are special to them

Practise English Group

This weekly reading group is for people who want to improve their literacy.

We read aloud to:

• increase confidence in reading English
• improve pronunciation
• enjoy a good story!

West End Library

• Mondays from 1pm to 2pm
• Drop in session

Councillor Surgeries

This branch hosts Local Councillor Surgeries. Use the ‘Find a Councillor‘ tool and select your ward to find Councillor information.

Newcastle Photo Archive

West Newcastle Picture History Collection has changed its name to Newcastle Photo Archive. It is based at West End Library.

The collection covers the city centre and suburbs across west Newcastle. The collection also includes material about local coal mines, Vickers Armstrong and the Western Bypass.

The collection is open to visitors at the Local History Hub in West End Library on:

• Mondays from 10am to 4pm

• Denton Burn Library
• Kenton Library
• West End Library
