Wor Hoose Community Project

The Wor Hoose Community Project is a small neighbourhood hub providing a range of services and activities 5 days per week, for anyone to access. We are located on Hexham Avenue, located in Walker.

Currently we run:

  • Winter warm wellbeing and drop in formation sessions every week day
  • Computer access, free phone to sort utility and debt issues out, support to contact Newcastle City Council housing and tenancy advice, universal credit support and help to do job searches. Usually run on a Tuesday between 10am – 12noon but call in or contact us at other times too.
  • Women’s wellbeing group every Tuesday 1pm – 3pm
  • Walker Housing Team information every Tuesday 2pm – 4pm at the Walker Activity Dome, Wharrier Street, we can help you get support and make appointments.
  • Welfare Advice every Wednesday 9.30am – 1pm, with the North East Law Centre
  • Last Wednesday of every month the Walker housing officer drops in to provide advice and support 10am – 12.30
  • Cookery classes starting in January 2026
  • Other activities include drop in advice, wifi use, hardship support, form filling help, printer and PC use, family support and school holiday events.

Wor Hoose is also a Newcastle City Wellbeing Winter Wellbeing Hub providing a warm place to attend, and meet with others. We provide free refreshments, sometimes with free food, free Wi-Fi, information, a place to charge your devices, access computers, practical advice and much more. Call in anytime for a cuppa 🙂

Wellbeing hub open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, During December school holidays we will open 10am – 1pm until 25/12/25 (closed 25/12 – 28/12) and open again from 29/12/25.
