Housing Options for Older People (HOOP)

First Stop – Housing Options for Older People (HOOP) provide free online service to help older people, their families and friends make choices about their housing, equipment and care options.  If you live in Newcastle there is an agreement for a telephone service as well.  You can also fill in a printed questionnaire and post it in to receive advice and options.  Advice includes:

  • care and support options or finding what’s right for you
  • housing options or finding accommodation that suits your needs and advice about moving (HOOP tool)
  • finance or options for paying for care and managing finances
  • your rights or standards, entitlements and links to advocacy services
  • a directory of local services – from ‘handypersons’ to lunch clubs to home care providers
  • a directory of local and UK care homes for older people –  including links to inspection reports
  • a directory of local and UK retirement housing – including sheltered, assisted living, extra care, close care,  almshouses and retirement villages
