Laing Art Gallery

The Laing Art Gallery has a permanent international collection of art. It focuses on British oil paintings, watercolours, ceramics, silver and glassware. It runs regular events such as artist and curator talks and family activities. They have a range of new exhibitions of historic, modern and contemporary art.

On the ground floor is a café offering light refreshments and a gift shop selling a homewares, prints and jewellery. The Laing has a play space for children under the age of 5.

Entry is free to the Laing art gallery, shop and café. There is an admission charge to some exhibitions. The free displays include:

• The Untold Stories and the Tides of Change to Come
• Newcastle in Watercolours 

It’s one of 9 museums managed by North East Museums.. It is a designated Safe Place for people with learning disabilities.

This is a designated Safe Reporting Centre where people can report hate crime or hate incidents without having to contact the Police directly.
