onHand is a volunteer-matching platform, and they are offering their services to people needing help with simple tasks in the North East. They’re working in partnership with the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and Newcastle Building Society to provide local residents with some support during the pandemic. Verified volunteers can view and “accept” requests for help through the onHand app. You can expect the volunteers to help with things like dropping shopping off on your doorstep, collecting prescriptions, running small errands, dog walking and companionship phone calls. They also provide help with gardening when government guidelines allow for it. All of this is done at a safe distance and the volunteers have guidance on how to keep you and them safe and healthy while completing the task.
