Parkinson’s UK
Parkinson’s is a neurological condition and Parkinson’s UK is a Parkinson’s support and research charity. They bring people with Parkinson’s, their carers and families together through a network of local groups, their website and their free, confidential helpline.
Parkinson’s UK provide information and training on every aspect of Parkinson’s and also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services.
Their Information and Support service covers the entire UK, providing free, confidential one-to-one information and listening ear support. Peer Support Group meetings are held across the North East including:
- Newcastle Support group – Church of the Sacred Heart Newcastle, Great North Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 5EB, first Monday of the month, 2pm to 3.30pm
- South Tyneside support group – South Shields Museum & Art Gallery, Ocean Road, South Shields, NE33 2JA, every Monday, 11am to 12pm
- North Tyneside support group – Linskill Centre, Linskill Terrace, North Shields, NE30 2AY, third Monday of the month from 2pm to 3:30pm
- Northumberland, Tyne and Wear Active persons group – Marriott Hotel Gateshead, MetroCentre, Gateshead, NE11 9XF, Various events throughout the year Please get in touch for more information.
- Durham support group – Newton Hall Community Centre Durham, Kira Drive, Durham, DH1 5GU, last Friday of the month 12:30pm to 2:30pm
- Sunderland support group -at Bede Tower Sunderland, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR2 7EA, second Monday of the month, 2pm to 3.30pm
