Skills for People

Skills for People support people with learning disabilities and autism and their carers. They give information, advice and support services, to disabled children and their families. This includes help with:

  • Education Health and Care Plans
  • support with applying for grants and benefits
  • accessing services

They run:

  • Pass it on Parents: a parents group that supports families with children who have additional needs living in Newcastle.
  • Parent and Carer coffee mornings where you can find out more about support available and chat with other people with shared experiences
  • Drop in sessions
  • Family meet ups

The office is a designated Safe Place for people with learning disabilities.

Skills for People is commissioned by Newcastle City Council for sexual health training for people with learning disabilities.

They work to make sure disabled people can be in control of their own lives, strong confident and included in the communities of their choice. Northeast Special Needs Network is now part of Skills for People.
