Welcome to Badminton

Welcome to Badminton runs regular badminton sessions for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Playing badminton for fun, to make friends, learn new skills and keep healthy.

No experience needed. Shuttlecocks and rackets are provided.  You just need to bring water to drink and wear comfortable clothes and trainers. Your travel costs to the venue can be reimbursed if you bring your travel tickets.

You don’t need to book a place, but you can call or message Ruth to let her know you would like to attend.

The project is funded by Sport England and led by Ruth Ashford, an ESOL Lecturer at Newcastle College.

They are currently running weekly badminton and table tennis sessions in collaboration with the West End Refugee Service, Mondays 2pm to 4pm.
