Action for Children

Action for Children protects and supports children, young people their families and carers. They provide practical and emotional care and support. This includes parenting, fostering and adoption. They have online resources to help you. They run services in Newcastle which includes:

• domestic violence counselling and support for young people and children in Benwell
• family support in Blakelaw
• drop in family advice sessions from Citizens Advice Newcastle at their centres in Kenton and Benwell

They run free helplines:

• Parent Talk a parenting helpline where you can talk to a parenting coach about anything that’s worrying you
• Sidekick is an anonymous and confidential text service for young carers aged 13 to18

They are a campaigning charity. They work to make the voices of children are heard and campaign for lasting improvements to their lives.
