Good Neighbours Project – Volunteering Matters
The Good Neighbours Newcastle project connects volunteers with people in the community who may be feeling lonely, isolated, or need extra support. Volunteers help by offering social, emotional, or practical support through small, one-time activities or short-term tasks.
This could include helping older adults, people with disabilities, or anyone in need of a little extra assistance by:
- helping with grocery shopping
- collecting and delivering medical prescriptions
- driving them to their GP/hospital appointment
- accompanying them to a social activity or appointment
- helping with odd jobs around the house
- light gardening
- checking in with someone for a cup of tea and a chat
To become a Good Neighbour volunteer you can sign up here on Volunteero. You can volunteer at a time that works best for you and fits your schedule. You’ll have access to a wide range of tasks and activities through the Volunteero app and online portal.
