Journey Enterprises Ltd
Journey Enterprises provides life-skills and employability training for adults with learning disabilities and autism. They have Day Centres and hubs in Newcastle (Kenton), Blyth, Hexham and Bishop Auckland. They support people with conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Sotos, Prader Willi, Fragile X, Cerebral Palsy and autism. You can be referred to Journey by the council and the NHS. They can help you to develop life and work skills and to manage your health and wellbeing. You can take part in a programme of activities to suit your interests and aspirations. This can include:
- small group activities such as arts & crafts, catering, drama and puppetry, music and dance, IT, horticulture, woodwork, health and exercise, employability and enterprise. Activities are led by specialist Learning Disability Support Workers trained in health and social care and Positive Behaviour Support
- employability support with Work Coaches
- volunteering opportunities in Journey’s Enterprises and with other organisations.
- a range of activities in the community and at Journey Enterprise
- Travel Confidence Training to help you learn how to travel independently on public transport
- Community café where you can buy a low-cost nutritious lunch. Refreshments are available throughout the day.
The Day Centre costs £39.60 a day. Transport is available to help you get to to the Day Centre. It costs 45p per mile. If you attend the day service more than 3 days a week, transport costs are reduced.
