Search Newcastle

Search is a long established local community charity that supports older people and those affected by dementia in the west of Newcastle.  It’s aim is to help older people, aged 50 or over, to have happy, healthy and interesting lives through the work it does. There are a variety of activities:

  • dance, music, crafts and keep fit options at venues across the west end
  • an Advice and Information Service that provides free and independent advice to people 50+ in the West End of Newcastle (drop in on the events and activities).
  • Buy and Bite shopping and friendship groups with staff support and accessible transport
  • Bishop’s Court Lunch Club held weekly with supported accessible transport
  • The West End Friends project that supports people 50+ with one to one support and group activities in the South Asian and Chinese communities
  • Chain Reaction Prevention Support which helps older people who might have challenges relating to their physical, mental health or with memory issues to connect with their local community
  • Search@Home offering bespoke one to one support ranging from a ‘handyperson’ service to bespoke support
  • Dementia and Memory loss related support for families

Many of the activities and groups are free or low cost to attend.
