Tyneside Cinema are hosting the UK’s leading Black film festival, S.O.U.L Fest (Screening Our Unseen Lives), on Saturday 5 September. It provides a vital platform for Black filmmakers and Black audiences to come together and celebrate Black stories through film.

The Older Voices radio show is a weekly magazine programme produced and run entirely by volunteers from the Elders Council. It takes a different theme each week, as well as having regular items, stories and poems and a ‘What’s On’ news slot.

MenB is rare but can cause serious meningitis and blood poisoning, with young people living and socialising closely together at increased risk.
The free vaccine is available to eligible Year 13 students and anyone under 25 starting university or moving into halls of residence for the first time this autumn. Two doses are needed, four weeks apart, so it is important that those eligible come forward as soon as possible.

Tuesday September 2, between 2pm and 4pm
The historic alleyways and arcade will trial the slow shopping initiative to make shopping more accessible for people with visible, invisible, intellectual and cognitive disabilities – with the 80+ traders turning music off, allowing more time and support for customers, and avoiding deliveries where possible.

One in four adults will experience at least one mental health problem each year. Newcastle United Foundation is working to change that. Their Be A Game Changer campaign encourages everyone in our community to speak openly, access support and to prioritise physical and mental wellbeing.
Just like physical health, mental wellbeing needs looking after. But too often, people suffer in silence. Suicide is now the most common cause of death among men aged 20 to 49 in England and Wales, and sadly, the North East has one of the highest male suicide rates in the country.
