Tens of thousands of cancers could be detected earlier thanks to a national roll out of fast-track testing. The NHS are expanding direct access to diagnostic scans across all GP practices, enabling GPs to order these checks directly and helping to cut down waiting times to as little as four weeks.
Under the scheme, around 67,000 people who are usually diagnosed with cancer through non-urgent testing will now be eligible for fast-tracking and have a better chance of their disease being picked up at an earlier stage.
