Travelling with Confidence is a brand new project funded by the Motability Foundation to increase opportunities for people with learning disabilities in the North East and Cumbria to enjoy and benefit from the ability to travel.
Training and peer support are at the heart of Travelling with Confidence, which will see people with learning disabilities receive accredited travel training so they can deliver bespoke awareness raising sessions and become buddies to help others overcome their own barriers to travel.
A network of Travel Champions with learning disabilities will also be established to engage with the transport sector and provide opportunities to influence policy and practice among local providers.
Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) health bus is back for 2025! NGPS work on behalf of all GP practices in Newcastle providing health services in your community from their community health bus. Get involved in health research studies and contribute to finding cures and treatments for a range of conditions and diseases like cancer, diabetes, dementia and heart disease. Haref at Connected Voice cultural competency training is funded by Newcastle Public Health team and informed by the experiences of people in local communities through the Haref Network. It is free for practitioners delivering services in Newcastle upon Tyne only, who wish to improve their reach of services with ethnically marginalised communities.

The North East Fund for the Arts is a grant for community groups using arts or arts projects. The grant could be used to engage a community in arts activity for the first time, develop their engagement, or inspire participants to seek further opportunities in the arts
Applications are invited from both community organisations and arts organisations. The strongest projects will demonstrate partnerships and wider community involvement. Priority will be given to applications that demonstrate longer term impact,

Newcastle City Council are sending out reminders this week to people who have received a questionnaire on their experience with Adult social care. A sample of people who have received care and support services from Adult Social Care and Prevention at Newcastle City Council are being asked to feedback on their quality of life and their experience of the care that they receive. It is part of the national Adult Social Care Survey for people who are over 18 and who use adult social care.
Whether you attend a day centre or get care at home, share your thoughts and opinions on the services you use to help improve our services now and in the future.

The house of evergreen arts exhibition

There’ll be a fabulous exhibition of artwork by Chinese Elders, the culmination of a 6 month artist residency project led by artist Pui Lee.

Community Kitchen provides a free & healthy hot meal, and a space to socialise with new people at the dinner table. There are a range of free activities such as films, haircuts, knitting, clothes repair and electrical repairs. Activities vary. Everyone who comes along is welcome to help out where they can.
Community Kitchen is for anyone and everyone – this is not charity but a social event. Under 16s must be supervised.

Newcastle Queer Art Club run weekly sessions on Tuesdays at One Strawberry Lane which alternate between focus weeks and social weeks.
Focus weeks are smaller sessions for people who want to work on projects/study/read with few distractions. Social weeks are larger sessions which are less work focussed.
