You may want to hire a public space for an event, community group, activity or meeting. There are many public spaces and venues for hire in Newcastle for individual and community events.

Some public spaces are low cost or even free depending on what you use them for and if you are a local organisation, charity, or member of the public.

Ray Gray Community Centre have community and business spaces available to hire.

St Martin’s Centre have community spaces available to hire.

Heaton Community Centre have rooms available for hire

Walkerville Community Centre have rooms available for hire.

The Mansion House have rooms and catering available for hire.

Newcastle Civic Centre has rooms and catering available for hire. All rooms are disability accessible.

One Strawberry Lane has several rooms available for hire and an on-site café. Their Innovation Hub area on the ground floor is an open plan space that can be used for free

Newcastle Building Society have a community space available for use at their Northumberland Street branch.

Discovery Museum have rooms available for hire.

Alphabetti Theatre have rehearsal space available for hire.

Cobalt Studios CIC have co-working spaces, meeting rooms and artist studio spaces that can be hired.

D6 Culture in Transit have rooms available for hire. The rooms all have Wi-Fi. Please note that these rooms are only accessible by stairs.

Newcastle Castle has some large rooms available for hire. The great hall is only accessible by stairs.

Newcastle Cathedral has rooms available for hire.

Live Theatre have rehearsal space and meeting rooms available. Please note that the meeting rooms are not wheelchair accessible.

The Laing Art Gallery have large rooms available for hire.

BottleWorks Pop-Up Space is available for venue hire and as an event space, as well as an artists space for hire.

George Street Social have rooms available for hire. All rooms have Wi-Fi and are disability accessible.

Pottery Bank Community Centre have community and business spaces available for hire. All rooms have Wi-Fi and are disability accessible. There is free on-site parking and catering/refreshment facilities are also available.

Life (Centre for Life) have a room available for hire.

The Magic Hat Cafe has The Living Room, a meeting and workshop space that can be booked for groups.

Eldon Square Shopping centre has the Eldon Square Community Quarter. A free space available to Arts and cultural organisations, civic & heritage employability organisations, environmental agencies, Local Authorities, public bodies, registered charities, schools, colleges, universities and volunteering agencies

The Ouseburn Trust have meeting rooms for up to 12 people and co-working spaces available for hire. There is Wi-Fi as well as kitchen facilities with tea, coffee, and biscuits. Charities and community interest companies can get a 20% discount.

Ouseburn Farm have venue space for up to 50 people available for hire. Catering services are available on request.

Ouseburn Community Centre have venue space for up to 100 people, meeting rooms for up to 15 people, and childcare space for up to 30 children available for hire. There is both on-site and street parking and the building and toilets are wheelchair accessible.

Star and Shadow Cinema have venue space and meeting rooms available for hire. The building can hold up to 300 people in total (25 for the meeting rooms) and is wheelchair accessible.

Building Futures East have a conference room for up to 12 people available for hire. Tea and coffee are included and there is also Wi-Fi.

Northumbria University have lecture theatres available for hire. The maximum capacity is 400 people and audio-visual equipment and catering are available on request. There is no on-site parking except for some blue badge spaces. All buildings are wheelchair accessible.

St James’s United Reform Church have venue space for up to 200 people and meeting rooms for up to 25 people available for hire. There is limited on-site parking for blue badge holders and guest speakers.

Tyneside Cinema have venue space for up to 263 people available for hire. The building is wheelchair accessible except for stalls and there is no on-site parking.

The Great North Museum: Hancock have venue and exhibition space available for hire. The maximum capacity is 500 people and catering is available on request. There are 4 on-site parking spaces for blue badge holders but no other on-site parking is available.

Newcastle University have lecture theatres and seminar rooms available for hire. the maximum capacity is 400. Audio-visual equipment is available on request and most (but not all) rooms are wheelchair accessible. There is no on-site parking.

Northern Stage have venue space for up to 447 people available for hire. Catering is available on request and there is wheelchair access to all floors. There is no on-site parking.

St Gabriel’s Church have venue space for up to 350 people available for hire. Video playing equipment and access to the kitchen is available. The building and toilets are wheelchair accessible. Limited street parking is available nearby.

Inner West Newcastle

Denton Burn Community association have rooms available to hire.

The John Marley Centre spaces available to hire from large workshop rooms, catering classrooms, recording studios to personal studios for local artists.

The Turf @ St John’s has a football and sports pitch space as well as an indoor space (for up to 60 people) available to hire.

West End Women and Girls Centre have meeting rooms and venue space for up to 120 people available to hire. There is Wi-Fi and refreshments and catering are available on request. The building is wheelchair accessible and there is a free car park on the opposite side of the street.

Elswick Community Leisure Centre have meeting rooms and venue space for up to 40 people available for hire. Wi-Fi and audio-visual equipment is available, as well as access to the swimming pool and gym for an additional cost. The building is wheelchair accessible.

Healthworks have meeting space for up to 20 people available to hire. Audio-visual equipment and catering are available on request. The building is wheelchair accessible and there is nearby parking both on-street and in a car park.

Riverside Community Health Project at Carnegie Community Hub has meeting rooms and venue space for up to 80 people available for hire. Audio-visual equipment and Wi-Fi is available in every room. The building and toilets are wheelchair accessible and there is on-street parking available nearby.

British Red Cross have venue space for up to 50 people available for hire at their Newcastle office. Audio-visual equipment is available and catering can be provided on request. The building and toilets are wheelchair accessible and on-site parking is available.

Greening Wingrove‘s Bike Garden and pavilion are available to hire for private and public events. Tea/coffee and basic cooking facilities are available on request, as well as cutlery and crockery for up to 30 people. The Bike Garden and pavilion are both wheelchair accessible.

The FAR Community Centre have office space available for hire. Access to Wi-Fi and kitchen facilities are included. There is free on-street parking available nearby.

Outer West Newcastle

The Lemington Centre have community spaces available to hire. All rooms have free Wi-Fi. There is free car parking either on site or off road nearby. The venue is accessible and has lifts to upper floors. They have facilities for making tea and coffee.

The Galafield Centre  have community spaces available to hire.

West Denton Community Centre have rooms, music systems, and kitchens available for hire. The venue is accessible and has lifts for the upper floors.

Tesco Kingston Park have a community space available for use. The store is disability accessible and there is on-site parking.

Church of the Holy Nativity have venue space and meeting rooms available for hire.

North Newcastle

Community Foundation have 2 rooms available to hire for VCSE organisations.

Hazlerigg and District War Memorial Community Centre have rooms available for hire.

Jesmond Library has two Community Rooms available for hire, at £10 per hour. The Catherine Cookson Room enjoys step-free access from street level and the use of an accessible toilet.  The main room of the library is also available for hire outside of the Library opening hours

Jesmond United Reform Church have event space available for hire which can hold up to 150 people. The building is wheelchair accessible and free on-street parking is available nearby.

Disability North have rooms for up to 12 people available to hire. Video equipment and teas/coffees are available. The building and toilets are wheelchair accessible, additional disability aids are available on request.

Newcastle Quakers have rooms available for hire between 8am and 10pm weekdays and Saturdays and between 2pm and 10pm on a Sunday. The kitchen is available to use and external catering is welcome. The building has 2 steps at the front but is wheelchair accessible at the rear. There is a small on-site care park and limited street parking nearby.
